Chicken Shami Kabab

Quick Chicken Shami Kabab Recipe

Ingredients:

- 250 grams boneless chicken

- 1/2 cup split yellow lentils (chana dal)

- 1 small onion, finely chopped

- 2-3 green chilies, chopped

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced

- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala

- Salt to taste

- 2-3 tablespoons oil

- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)

- Lemon wedges (for serving)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Wash the split yellow lentils (chana dal) thoroughly and soak them in water for 1 hour.

2. In a pot, add the soaked lentils and boneless chicken pieces. Add enough water to cover them and bring it to a boil. Cook until the lentils and chicken are tender. This should take about 20-25 minutes.

3. Drain any excess water from the cooked lentils and chicken.

4. In a food processor, combine the cooked lentils and chicken, chopped onion, green chilies, minced garlic, minced ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Blend until you get a smooth mixture.

5. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round patties or kebabs.

6. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Place the shaped shami kababs in the pan and shallow fry them until they are golden brown on both sides. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side.

7. Remove the chicken shami kababs from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove any excess oil.

8. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

9. Serve hot with lemon wedges and your favorite chutney or sauce.
