Beef Pulao

Quick Beef Pulao Recipe

  • Ingredients:

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 250g beef, cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

  • Instructions:

1. Wash the basmati rice under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

2. Heat oil in a large pot or deep pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

3. Add the chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.

4. Add the beef cubes and brown them on all sides. This will take about 5-7 minutes.

5. Stir in the chopped tomato and green chilies. Cook for a few minutes until the tomato softens.

6. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes to let the spices bloom.

7. Add the drained rice and stir to combine with the meat and spices.

8. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the rice and meat are fully cooked, and the liquid is absorbed.

9. Once done, remove from heat and let it rest, covered, for 5 minutes.

10. Fluff the beef pulao with a fork and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

11. Serve hot with raita or your favorite side salad.

Enjoy your delicious and quick beef pulao!
