Spaghetti Aglio e Olio Recipe
Ingredients
- 225gram spaghetti
- 4 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup (60ml) extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Boil the Spaghetti: Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water.
Sauté Garlic: While the spaghetti is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic is fragrant and just starting to turn golden. Be careful not to let it brown too much, as it can become bitter.
Combine Pasta and Garlic Oil: Add the cooked and drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss everything together, ensuring the pasta is well coated with the flavorful oil. If it seems a bit dry, add some of the reserved pasta cooking water to create a silky sauce.
Season and Garnish: Season the pasta with salt and black pepper to taste. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley for extra flavor and garnish.
Serve: Transfer the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio to plates, and enjoy your quick and delicious dinner!
